Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

Happy New Year to all our beloved friends and family.

We did something different to celebrate the new year. We got invited to ring in the new year with our friends the Oylers up at Lake Gregory. They have great cabin nestled in the mountains and Kiana and Kole got to experience snow for the first time! What an awesome thrill to witness the pure joy of life's first experiences with your kids. They had a blast! They ate snow, made snow angels, threw snowballs, made snowmen and went sledding until hunger or exhaustion overpowered them.

We did do the typical new years day stuff like watch the Rose Parade, the Rose Bowl and ate way too much junk food! By the way, I want to give a personal shout out to the powers that be at KTLA!!! I could not be more elated that Stephanie Edwards was back in the broadcast booth sitting next to Bob Eubanks. Not to dump on Michaela, but if it ain't broke don't fix it! They are the perfect pair and they should never be separated!!! Ok, I'm finished.

On Friday, we decided to make our way on up the hill to Big Bear to go sledding(more for Keith and I than the kids). This was a great decision and the worst decision we have ever made. There was some traffic going up but once we got there........ nothing but big belly laughs, giggles and squealing the whole time. One of the best times we've had as a family. That was until we had to leave. We all got in the car bummed that the fun day was over not knowing what was to come. We started down the mountain and ran into traffic trying to get out of Big Bear. It never stopped. The traffic was so bad that even my commuting husband was complaining. This is the same man that would sit on the 405 on a regular basis and said it was the worst traffic he ever experienced. To give you an idea, thanks to GPS we learned that in 1 and a 1/2 hours we traveled 2.1 miles. Yes that's what I said 2.1 miles!! There were times that Keith would put it in park and take a 20 minute cat nap before we would move another 10 feet! So after over 3 hours of "are we almost there yet", "I'm hungry", "I'm thirsty" and "I hate traffic" we finally pulled up to the Oyler's cabin. What a day!!! By the way, there was no accidents or road hazzards, just plain old fashioned mountain traffic!
